Medlar Jelly

Standard Jar - 240g

Very limited edition as we make this from our homegrown medlars. Makes a lovely clear jelly with a taste we can only describe as a bit like toffee apples! Use it as a sweet jelly on toast or with roast meats.

Ingredients: Medlars, Sugar.

Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-free.

The fruit is an acquired taste – tart if eaten raw but if allowed to become so ripe that it has started to decay, the flavour is similar to toffee apples. It has a long history of cultivation, dating back over 3,000 years, and was introduced to Western Europe by the Romans. It was a popular winter fruit during the Middle Ages and later, enjoyed for its sweetness after a process called "bletting".
